I’ve noticed a peculiar phenomenon in blogolandia. For some reason people comment way more on posts that are negative, attacking, soap boxy, or controversial than on posts about positive, happy, non-confrontational, or agreeable things. This said, I anticipate very meager commenting on this post, unless some people feel like compensating or wish to prove me wrong and leave a comment when they would normally say nothing at all. :)Tuesday, November 27, 2007
Just the Weight of the World

I thought the same thing when I got comments on Soapbox the First. Though, I kind of seeded the first comment...
Anyway, one of my favorite feelings is when I'm really glum and conflicted and I pray and get such a sure feeling that He really wants me to be happy. And He smiles when I truly am.
...proved you wrong! :)
Hey, comments aren't everything. I usually try to comment when I have something to add. Maybe you sometimes write your posts with such brilliant completeness that there's nothing to add. :-)
You're gay, you're Mormon, you like philosophy.
What's there not to comment on??!
It does seem that the deliberately provocative blogs seem to attract a certain kind of activity... But that stuff gets really tired after a while.
Your post reminded me of a Charles Dickens quote that I really like - and I think it accurately describes life at times.
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way - in short, the period was so far like the present period."
I agree with you. I usually post on the positive side, and even though I have around a 100 visitors a week, I receive very few comments.
I say in my blog title that it is a place for "writing on the wall." I wish I could scare up more dialog around ideas, but people will say what they want to say, and I'm good with that.
